The Value of MWAIIA Membership

MWAIIA provides its members updates on federal and local legislative and regulatory issues critical to their businesses; local continuing education classes for the District, Maryland and Virginia; and opportunities to meet and interact with other insurance professionals in the Washington metropolitan area. In addition, MWAIIA membership makes you a part of the Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of America (the Big "I"), the largest and most powerful association for independent insurance agents and brokers in the United States. The Big “I” binds the strengths of state associations, such as ours, into a strong national voice by concentrating on three key areas:

Government Affairs
The Big “I” political action committee, InsurPac, helps elect candidates and re-elect senators and congressional representatives who share its members’ business philosophies.
The Big “I” annual National Legislative Conference enables members to meet on Capitol Hill with their congressional representatives.
The Big “I” is consistently rated as one of the top lobbying organizations in Washington, D.C.
The Big “I” legal action fund helps fight court and legislative battles having both state and national impact.
The Big “I” provides legal guidance to state associations and individuals regarding contracts, reviews, specific contracts on request, and offers seminars on agents’ responsibilities as they relate to specific legal issues.
The Big “I” provides public relations outreach and advertising campaigns for independent agencies through the growing Trusted Choice® brand program.
The Big “I” provides advocacy on technical insurance issues.
The Big “I” protects its members from adverse regulatory and legislative policy and rule changes.
Agency Efficiency and Management
The Big “I” focuses on professional development and effective management by offering its Best Practices agency studies, seminars and workshops.
