ACA Update & Links
Two updates were sent out by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services relating to the Affordable Care Act. The first, a
Q&A notice clarifying how individuals who have Medicare are treated under ACA. The second is a clarification regarding commission payments for placing coverage in the exchange.

Health exchange registration Part II open
Part II of the agent and broker registration process for the federally facilitated marketplaces is now open. In Part II, agents who wish to serve in individual markets may now complete identity proofing on the CMS Enterprise Portal.
     Please note that
Part I of the registration process must be completed first, and agents must wait 48 hours after finishing Part I to begin Part II. To review instructions from previously held webinars about the registration process, click here and scroll down to "Additional Resources."
Agency owners who wish to have commission payments for policy placement in the federally facilitated marketplaces paid to the agency rather than to individual producers must certify their agencies through the same online certification process individual use but using the business entity NPN number instead of his or her individual NPN. If the owner also wishes to be certified as an individual, he or she must complete the certification process twice: once for the agency and once for him or herself.

Sample certificate letter
MAIA has created a sample letter producers may use when asked by clients to provide a non-filed form as proof of insurance. Click here to access the letter.
