GRASSROOTS

Members of the Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of New Jersey are part of an association that works hard to inform and protect its members in the vast and often complicated legislative arena. With a dedicated Legislative Agent and an active Government Affairs committee, IIABNJ proactively tracks legislation, meets with legislators, and testifies before the State Assembly and Senate.

IIABNJ’s active Grassroots Program enables the association to contact members across the state quickly to mobilize when legislation is moving through the State Legislature or Congress requiring the attention of all agency owners and employees.

Political Contacts
IIABNJ members are asked to share individual legislative contacts the association using the Grassroots Form. These contacts are an important part of IIABNJ’s ongoing grassroots effort and enable the association to use members’ connections to contact legislators across the state, and in Washington, to help pass legislation favorable to independent insurance agents. Legislators who are familiar with independent agents and their concerns are the industry’s best asset in the State House and in Washington.

To share a legislative contact with IIABNJ, please log in to download the Grassroots Form by entering your username and password above.

Grassroots Support
Members can participate in the political process by:

  • Voting. Remember, your vote does count.
  • Staying informed. Read The Independent Voice, IN&V, Independent Agent Magazine, and Watchdogs so you can remain current on the issues and get involved where, and when, necessary.
  • Get to know your legislators. Making contacts further supports the independent system and reminds them who the small businesses and insurance agents are in their community.
  • Take action. When IIABNJ or IIABA issues an Action Alert, call or write elected officials.
  • Attend the Legislative Conference held each spring in Washington DC, and participate in IIABNJ Trenton Days or other political process meetings.
